Rough Rider's RR311 Red Jigged Bone Canoe-Whittler ( Canittler)

What's a canittler? A canittler is a knife built on a Canoe frame but has three blades set up in whittler fashion. That is, a Canoe with a large clip or spear blade at the top bolster, and pen and coping blades and the rear bolster.

As far as I know, the small canittlers are unique to the Rough Rider brand. That is no one has ever made a knife in this size or pattern and no one other than Rough Rider is currently making it. The knife is very small (2.25 inches closed). Despite this, it featers a split back spring just as you find on larger whittlers. Fitand finish is quite remarkable as is the knfe's finctionality. It easily fits just about anywhere and is as sharp as a razor blade, making ideal for small cutting chores. If you like small knives like baby toothpicks or peanuts, you will like this knife . If you like canoes or whittlers, then again, the canittler is perfect addition. Even if you're just looking for something that is out of the ordinary, you flat-out just can't go wrong with a canittler!

The red jigged bone on the Canittler has changed over time, becoming darker. The fit and finish on the knife is quite good, much better than I would expect on such a small knife. It also had the round horseshoe shield. I beleive this knife has been released at least twice. First release fetured an Always Ready blade etch and Horseshoe shield. Later releases lack the etch and have the propellor shield.
